Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual Appearance: Slightly shorter than average, Emma stands at a 5'4", though her sweet disposition tends to make her appear shorter at times. She tends to carry with her a naive, almost childlike demeanor, making her appear younger than she really is as well. She has a slender figure, flaming red hair and a fair complected, freckled face which gives her the stereotypical appearance of a redhead. She gives lie, however, to the stereotype that all redheads have fiery tempers, however, as hers is as calm as it could possibly be.
Personality:
Emma is described by her friends as someone they can always talk to. She's always willing to lend an ear or even offer advice if that's what they're after. She will even, at times, give an unsolicited opinion if she thinks someone is making a bad choice, though even in doing so, she doesn't come off as intrusive. She generally comes off as polite and helpful and often naive.
That's because she is very naive. In school, she was a quiet girl she had a few close friends and didn't really go beyond that circle with the exception of when people needed help with something or other. In life, she's not much different. She hasn't dated much and doesn't really spend much time thinking about dating, she'd rather just live her life and if the right person comes along, maybe he will surprise her.
History:
Emma was born the second child of the Pillsbury family, the oldest child was her brother, age three when Emma was born. She spent most of her childhood teased by her brother, though it was in good nature--for the most part. He had a few times where he went overboard, the biggest example being when she was eight years old. Emma's childhood dream was to work on a dairy farm. When she was eight, her family visited one. They went on a tour and got a yogurt tasting. Over all, the experience had been a positive one for Emma, until her brother ruined it. He pushed her into the runoff lagoon.
Because of this, her dream changed. She couldn't forget the smell. She started taking a lot of showers and stopped eatin dairy. Through this, she developed a bigger problem that she is still convinced is "completely manageable." She's a germophobe. She's obsessed with keeping things clean and wears gloves when dealing with anything that might have the smallest amount of germs on them.
When she finished high school (four years after Will Schuester, who she didn't know in school) she went to college for teaching, then went on to getting certified as a guidance counselor. She began working at the high school she graduated from (William McKinley High School in Lima, Ohio) as their guidance counselor. This is when she met Will, a married Spanish teacher, and developed a crush on him. While she knew nothing could happen with him, she still found herself wishing he would leave his wife.
She knew of Will's involvement in Glee when he was in high school, so when Glee advisor Sandy Ryerson got fired for sexually harassing a male student, she jumped at the chance to inform Will of this--subtly, of course--he took the bait and took over Glee. She had a feeling he could turn the program from the joke it had become to the sensation it had been when he was in high school.
She went on a field trip with the Glee Club as a chaperone, it was then that Will told her of his marital unhappiness, in not so many words. After that, she began entertaining her crush further, thinking that if he was unhappy, he might actually leave his wife. To her dismay, however, he discovered Terri was pregnant. There was no way he'd leave her now. The worst part about it, however, was the fact that he was giving in to his wife's wishes and leaving McKinley for a higher paid job--an accountant. Emma knew he wouldn't be happy as an accountant, but she had to prove it to him.
Though her job was to counsel the high school students, she made an appointment for him in the career center and looked up an old video of the 1993 Glee Club at Nationals. It was the happiest she had ever seen Will--who, after watching the video, confirmed that it had been the happiest moment of his life and that the only time he'd been happier was when Terri told him she was pregnant. He left that day telling her he had to provide for his family.
In the end, Will had decided not to leave the school, this was something that made Emma happy. She continued to take every opportunity she could to talk to him, and even spent one evening helping him clean, as he had taken on a temporary janiter position to afford to buy a new house to raise his child in. Since she helped him with one of his problems, he wanted to take a stab at one of hers, to which she responded that she didn't have any problems, just a little trouble with messes. It was that night that she told Will, the first person she'd ever told, the story of the dairy farm. They had a connection that night, but she left before anything could happen. Maybe it would have, maybe it wouldn't have. She'd never know.
The next day, Ken Tanaka, who had a crush on Emma and had asked her out on several occasions (to which she would give whatever excuse she could--that she had allergies, that she was on her period or that she had other plans--simply because she wasn't interested and she was interested in someone else) asked her out once again. She told him she had asthma, but he asked her what she was doing chasing a married man. She realized she would have to move on and that Will would never like her the way she liked him, and began dating Ken, though her feelings will always remain for Will.
In-Game History:
Emma's existance at Harmony High went largely unnoticed for her four years there. She did have a small circle of friends, but if most people around her age were asked who Emma Pillsbury was, they would be sure they never met her and perhaps they were right. She was rather shy and awkward in her teenage years, and because of that, she stuck to a few close friends. A part of the reason she was shy, was the unexplained need to have everything around her clean. Most people didn't understand it, or even try to. It took a rare person to not pass judgment and think of her as weird for what she did.
When deciding on her career after high school, Emma considered many options. Some told her she'd be a natural as a psychologist, because she could listen to anyone's problems without being judgmental. She passed it up, however, in favor of math and went on to school for bookkeeping.
In her career, she doesn't have to deal with a lot of people, which also means a lot of people don't have to see her obsessively cleaning things as she works. She's able to work at her own pace and keep her area as clean as she likes. It works well for her, though she still feels as though there's something missing, as though it might not be her true calling. The problem is, she doesn't have a clue as to what that might actually be.
